The New York Times on the purchase of 508 Park by The Stewpot/First Presbyterian Church and future plans for the building

Note: During the 20 years that 508 Park and adjacent properties remained vacant and unsold, the presence of the homeless accessing services at the Stewpot across the street has carried full blame for discouraging potential buyers.  Few people have questioned this explanation and it was often publicized as the only reason the building had not been saved.   It is important to note that others suggested that an inflated asking price was the far greater deterrent to potential buyers given the very slow pace of redevelopment in the southeast corner of downtown Dallas over the last 20 years.
